Red Dog’s gone Green!  

Red Dog Radios is proud to announce that it has partnered with the only facility in North America that provides thermal recovery for nickel-cadmium batteries, the technology that the U.S. EPA has determined to be BDAT (Best Demonstrated Available Technology) for cadmium disposal.

Cadmium reclaimed from this recovery operation will be eventually returned to nickel-cadmium battery manufacturers. The nickel and iron become part of the remelt alloy that is used to make stainless steel. The battery electrolyte is used as a reagent in the facility's wastewater treatment plant. Natural resources are recycled - not land-filled, and this eliminates landfill liability for customers.

In addition to nickel-cadmium batteries, other types of batteries recycled by Red Dog Radios include: nickel-iron, nickel metal hydride, & lithium ion.

If you have old, tired 2-way radio batteries, don’t throw them into your waste stream, as they contribute to landfill pollution and the heavy metals can leach into groundwater. Instead, sent your batteries to Red Dog Radios for proper recycling. There is no cost for this service, other than your cost of postage. If you send your 2-way radios in for service, and are thinking of buying new batteries from Red Dog Radios, then by all means send the old batteries as well so we can recycle them for you.
